Avalon Emerson & the Charm – Eden

Avalon Emerson returns with “Eden”, her first release under the Avalon Emerson & the Charm name since 2023’s debut album. The track came from her first studio session with Bullion after the last live tour ended in late 2023, and that London session shifted something for her. “That day made me realize that making this kind of music is not just a detour from DJing and dance music, but the entrance to a deep cave, full of passages to wander.”

Emerson made her name as a dance DJ and producer, known for remixes of Slowdive and Four Tet tracks, but the “& the Charm” project exists somewhere between thumping club music and fuzzy dream-pop. She treats her voice as another instrument, finding something guttural when she sings about relationships and loss.

“Eden” builds on breakbeat elements with an emotional core that shimmers. Emerson describes it as a voyage along an endless river carved between mountains of joy and loss, gliding over a riverbed of relationships and love. The path itself is the point. Each part of the production feels expressive, bursts of color hitting directly.

The music video, directed by Ben Turok, follows Emerson as she rushes from her upstate New York home to JFK to catch a flight. Shot with a cinematic quality that evokes the feel of gauze-draped Super 8, it captures movement and urgency that match the song’s themes of transition and new beginnings.
